Start Your Journey with Us
Ready to turn theory into real impact? At Systecon, you’ll join a team that develops world-leading tools and methods for optimizing complex systems in industries such as defense, energy, transport, and aviation. Here, your ideas matter - and your work contributes to real solutions.
What we offer
As an intern, LIA or thesis student, you will experience a workplace that combines technical excellence with genuine curiosity. With us, you can expect:
- Meaningful projects where your contributions make a difference.
- Support from experienced colleagues who value collaboration, learning, and innovation.
- A culture built on openness and trust, where ideas are shared and explored.
- Room to grow, challenge yourself, and shape your own learning journey.
Upcoming Opportunities in 2026
To help you plan, here’s what we currently have on our roadmap for next year:
- Master’s Thesis within AI - Open Application all through 2026
AI will be a central theme for us next year. We are looking for master’s students who want to explore how intelligent systems can enhance analyses, simulations, and optimization tools.
If you have a project idea, prototype, or research angle within AI, we would be very happy to hear from you. Please reach out to us via anna.bohman@systecongroup.com
- LIA Internship within DevOps - Autumn / Winter 2026
Explore automation, toolchains, and modern development infrastructure in a hands-on environment. DevOps will primarily be offered as LIA placements in the third/fourth quarter, though we are always open to discussing strong ideas that align with our needs.
How it works
We publish our thesis and internship openings as they become available, so please be on the look-out on our career site and current openings.
However, if you already have an idea or project proposal that aligns with our focus areas for next year, then you are warmly encouraged to reach out.
Send us a short introduction about yourself, your studies, and what you want to explore, and we’ll assess together if there is a potential match. Please see contact details below.
We look forward to connecting with curious, driven students who want to make a difference.

Systecon is one of the few places where I get to work with advanced optimization and truly apply mathematics to real-world problems - surrounded by great colleagues in a setting where I can keep growing.

Multi-METRIC: Emma's Thesis
I began my studies at KTH in 2019 in the Vehicle Engineering program. I’ve always enjoyed mathematics and physics, but over time I realized that my main interest lied in mathematics. That led me to pursue a master’s degree in applied mathematics, focusing on optimization and systems theory. During the autumn term, I took a course in systems engineering where we had a guest lecturer from Systecon about spare parts optimization. I found the topic very interesting and spoke with the lecturer during the break. A year later, when I started considering my master’s thesis, I remembered that lecture and reached out to Systecon.
The Master’s Thesis
We explored several potential directions and eventually decided to focus on the spare parts optimization model METRIC, which is the foundation of Systecon’s software tool OPUS10. One of the core assumptions in METRIC is that failures occur one at a time. My goal was to extend the model so it could also account for multiple failures occurring simultaneously. A simple analogy is assuming that a car’s tires only fail one by one; in reality, two, three, or even all tires might fail at once. My thesis expanded the mathematical model to handle these types of scenarios.
The project was very fun. I loved the mathematical modeling, taking a problem, breaking it down, extending the underlying theory, and seeing the new model come to life.
Me and my supervisor from Systecon spent many sessions standing at the whiteboard, writing equations and working through ideas until the pieces finally fit.
One of the highlights for me was applying everything I had learned at KTH, especially in optimization and systems theory, to solve real-world problems. The thesis, “Multi-METRIC,” was a rewarding experience both academically and personally.
I also appreciated the flexibility I had between university and office life; being onsite almost every day with another thesis student made the experience even better.
Why I Joined Systecon
I chose to stay after my thesis because Systecon is one of the few companies in Stockholm where you get to work with applied mathematics in this way. Their software is world-leading in this field, and I wasn’t ready to leave optimization and systems engineering behind.
It’s a place where I can continue working on the topics I care about. On top of that, Systecon is a genuinely pleasant workplace: friendly colleagues, a great office, and strong opportunities for personal and professional development.
About Systecon Group
At Systecon we believe that details matter. That only when you fully understand a problem you can propose a solution that fixes it. For over 50 years Opus Suite has been delivering solutions that allow customers across industries, from defense to renewables to transport, to make informed, smarter business decisions. To stop guessing and start knowing.
We develop software products that bring certainty to decision making - half a century’s mathematical methods simulation and analytics distilled into an innovative, intuitive suite that allows our clients to maximize performance and reduce risk.
To make it happen, we need the best and the brightest, across a range of fields. If you feel that ‘efficiency’ might not be that dull after all, we’d love to sit down with you...
